  • The Task

    Group Assignment

In groups of four/five you will research the life of an assigned artist, searching specifically for background information which provides insight into his/her works of art. You will research his/her particular style of art, and provide any necessary information that will help one analyze this artist's work. A final component, peer teaching, will require students to formulate five questions to ensure audience involvement and participation. As a group you will research, consult and co-design an informative presentation of your assigned artist.

    Individual Assignment

Individually students will select a work of art and research and analyze it based on the guidelines provided. Again students must formulate five questions to serve peer teaching component.
Group members will come together once again to prepare a multi-media presentation of their group and individual projects.

Here are some questions to guide your research

    • What did the artist use to create this work?
    • What does one see in the painting? e.g. foreground, background, etc.
    • How would you describe the style of art applied in this work?
    • What should one focus on when viewing this painting?
