Badminton
Badminton is fast becoming the most popular sport in Moate Community School,as it offers top class facilities for up and coming badminton stars. Iain Hatton has spear headed this resurrance in the game having at one point representing Ireland himself. Now to keep meet the demand from our large numbers participating he is able assisted by Marie Walsh, Rosari Guinan and Wesley Conboy. At our school we have 4 full size courts in our state of the art gymnasium.

Sports are an integral part of a student’s co-curricular activities. Badminton offers a lot to its participants such as eye and hand co-ordination; speed (the fastest racquet game); fitness and generates an all round sense of well being. Competitively, Moate Community school participates in the Leinster and Dublin Schools Championships at all levels.. Many of our players have played for Leinster at Under 14, 16 and 19 age levels. We usually enter three teams at all levels – Senior, Junior and Minor.

Meet the coaches:

Iain Hatton
Iain has represented Ireland and munster at underage Badminton. He is a highly skilled tennis player and has represented his home county Waterfo
rd in soccer. He also does some coaching work with Waterford hurling development squads

Rosari Guinan
Rosari is a past pupil of the school and has recently re joined us on the teaching staff.  She has immediately immersed herself in the sporting life of the school and is currently assisting with Badminton in the school, one of our most rapidly expanding sports.

Marie Walsh
Marie is a new recruit to the coaching staff of Moate Community School and brings with her a wealth of experience in basketball coaching.
